Merken A whimsical treat featuring a moist cake center with marzipan, coated in chocolate and sprinkled with colorful toppings. Fun, festive, and perfect for parties or gifting!
I first made these Marzipan Chaos Cake Pops for a friend's birthday party and they became an instant hit. The balance of sweet marzipan and rich chocolate is truly irresistible, and decorating them with friends turns preparation into a joyous activity.
Ingredients
- Cake: 150 g all-purpose flour, 100 g granulated sugar, 75 g unsalted butter (softened), 2 large eggs, 50 ml whole milk, 1 tsp vanilla extract, 1 tsp baking powder, 1/4 tsp salt
- Marzipan Filling: 150 g marzipan (grated or crumbled)
- Frosting Binder: 75 g cream cheese (softened), 30 g powdered sugar
- Coating & Decoration: 200 g dark or milk chocolate (chopped or chocolate melts), 2 tbsp vegetable oil (for smooth coating), assorted sprinkles, chopped nuts, mini marshmallows, or edible glitter
Instructions
- Prep the Cake:
- Preheat oven to 180°C (350°F). Grease and line a 20 cm (8-inch) square baking pan. In a large bowl, cream together the butter and sugar until light and fluffy. Beat in eggs one at a time, then add vanilla extract. Sift in flour, baking powder, and salt. Add milk, mixing until just combined. Fold in the grated or crumbled marzipan.
- Bake:
- Pour batter into the prepared pan and bake for 25 to 30 minutes, or until a toothpick comes out clean. Cool completely.
- Create Cake Pop Mixture:
- Crumble the cooled cake into fine crumbs in a large bowl. Mix in cream cheese and powdered sugar until the mixture holds together when pressed.
- Shape & Chill:
- Roll into 20 balls (about 30 g each). Place on a parchment-lined tray and chill for 30 minutes.
- Coat & Decorate:
- Melt chocolate with vegetable oil in a microwave or double boiler until smooth. Insert a cake pop stick into each ball, dip into melted chocolate, and tap off the excess. Quickly decorate with sprinkles, nuts, or other toppings. Stand upright in a cake pop stand or Styrofoam block. Allow to set at room temperature, or chill for quicker results.
