Merken A vibrant and festive charcuterie board featuring classic German Currywurst bites, assorted cured meats, cheeses, pickles, and fresh accompaniments is perfect for entertaining or a casual gathering.
I first made this board for a family Oktoberfest night, and it was such a hit that it instantly became our go-to for every celebration. The Currywurst bites add a delicious German touch to the classic charcuterie lineup.
Ingredients
- Currywurst Bites: 4 German bratwurst sausages (about 400 g), 1 tbsp vegetable oil, 1 cup tomato ketchup, 2 tbsp mild curry powder plus extra for garnish, 1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce, 1 tbsp apple cider vinegar, 1 tsp smoked paprika, 1 tsp brown sugar, salt and pepper to taste
- Charcuterie Selection: 100 g prosciutto, 100 g salami sliced, 100 g smoked ham sliced, 100 g cured chorizo sliced
- Cheeses: 100 g aged Gouda sliced, 100 g Emmental cubed, 100 g Brie cut into wedges
- Pickles & Accompaniments: 1 cup cornichons or gherkins, ½ cup pickled onions, 1 cup cherry tomatoes, 1 cup seedless grapes, ½ cup whole-grain mustard, 1 small bunch radishes halved, 1 small loaf rustic bread sliced (use gluten-free bread if needed), crackers or breadsticks as desired
Instructions
- Prepare the Currywurst Sauce:
- In a small saucepan, combine ketchup, curry powder, Worcestershire sauce, vinegar, smoked paprika, brown sugar, and a pinch of salt and pepper. Simmer over medium heat for 5–7 minutes, stirring occasionally, until thickened and aromatic. Adjust seasoning to taste, keep warm.

- Heat oil in a skillet over medium heat. Add bratwursts and cook, turning occasionally, until browned and cooked through (about 10–12 minutes). Let rest for 3 minutes, then slice into bite-sized pieces.
- Toss Sausages in Sauce:
- Toss the sliced bratwurst with the warm curry sauce. Sprinkle extra curry powder on top for garnish. Insert toothpicks for easy serving.
- Assemble the Charcuterie Board:
- On a large board or platter, artfully arrange Currywurst bites in a central bowl. Surround with assorted cured meats, cheeses, pickles, tomatoes, grapes, radishes, and small bowls of mustard.
- Add Bread & Garnish:
