01 - Set oven temperature to 375°F. Prepare a baking sheet by lining it with parchment paper.
02 - In a mixing bowl, combine sliced apples with cherries, sugar, vodka, lemon juice, lemon zest, cinnamon, and cornstarch. Toss thoroughly and allow mixture to macerate for 10 minutes.
03 - On a clean work surface, lay out one sheet of phyllo dough and brush lightly with melted butter. Continue layering and brushing until six sheets are stacked.
04 - Spoon fruit filling in a line along one long side of the phyllo stack, leaving a 2-inch border. Fold in the short edges and roll up tightly to form a log; place seam-side down on the prepared baking sheet.
05 - Brush strudel with additional melted butter and evenly distribute sliced almonds over the top. Bake for 30 to 35 minutes, until golden brown and crisp.
06 - Allow strudel to cool for at least 15 minutes. Dust with powdered sugar, slice, and serve warm.
